1-11-2009, CD release Duo Macondo:
Granados, Albéniz, Piazzolla and more...
The CD is recorded by Enno Voorhorst (Guitar) and Mikhael Zemtsov (Viola) at the very beautiful small church and concert stage "Westvest". The CD is produced by Ottavo. Enno plays the new Classical Concert Guitar on this recording. The CD will come out in May 2009.
Duo Macondo
In his book 'loneliness hundred years' Nobel price winner García Màrquez writes about an imaginary town Macondo. Macondo became over the years synonymous with the magical realism of Màrquez. A comparison can be made with the music of Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla, the notes express also the magic of South America.
Mikhael Zemtsov and Enno Voorhorst have a passion for this kind of music: Mikhael Zemtsov lived and worked long time in Mexico and has even the Mexican citizenship. Enno Voorhorst recorded with great success several CD’s with traditional South American music. It is therefore not surprising that the programs of the Duo Macondo are dominated by music from Spain and Latin America.
Mikhail Zemtsov, Viola (1969)
As a soloist, he played all over the world with many orchestras and is frequently heard at international festivals such as Zacatecas in Mexico, Bastad in Sweden, Lübecker Chamber Music Festival in Germany or the “Tuscan Sun” in Italy. He played with musicians such as Misha Maisky, Bella Davidovitch, Dmitri Sitkovetski and Sarah Chang. In the Netherlands, he played at the Concertgebouw and took part in the Canal Festival in Amsterdam.
Enno Voorhorst, Guitar (1962)
Enno Voorhorst is guitar teacher at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague. His first CD with works by Agustín Barrios Mangore (Sony 1994) was highly praised. Roberto Brocamonte, a pupil of Barrios himself, says about this recording: "The tremolo of Enno is perfect. The interpretation seems as if "The Indian of Paraguay” has been written the piece especially for this hand. Rico Stover, Barrios connoisseur wrote: The CD Agustín Barrios Mangore played by Enno For Horst is the best that I have heard thus far. Recently, Bach pieces and a sequel of the Barrios CD have been worldwide released by NAXOS. This year also a new Baroque CD will be released by Brilliant Classics.

Dear Theo, your classical is my favourite guitar. My other less favourite guitars are one Daniel Friederich, three Robert Ruck and two Thomas Humphrey.
Your build quality and sound surpass all of the above.
My Ruck guitars are the best Ruck guitars on the planet. The Friederich is great but is simply less sophisticated, less complex in sound quality and build quality. The Humphrey guitars are excellent.
Your build quality separates your guitar from the other guitars I have.
In addition, each string of your guitar sounds as the other strings with the same degree of volume, sustain and complexity. You have the finest Brazilian wood and it comes with superb sound volume and quality especially for a spruce.
They should study your guitar.
Sincerely,
Tom Moore

The web site’s Dolphin guitar looks very familiar. I have not put it down. I have many other guitars, but this Dolphin is very interesting: The sustain, balance, and “voice - all very mature. The guitar suggests not only ”classical” and “jazz” but new music. I am very excited about it.

Guys, many thanks for the guitar. It is excellent. I have been playing most recently with gut strings so tuning the nylons up, was just short of torture. It is almost there now. Now I have to play it in. Superb work!

The guitar looks and sounds beautiful. The guitar does not shout instead sings towards the audience; the broad spectrum delivers a strong presence that makes it possible to hear every detail even at the last row of the concert hall.
