Selmer type

Already far back, in my early days, I started to repair most of the Selmer and Maccaferri for the Gipsy's and others in the Netherlands. I noticed that no one of these guitars were alike and that most of these guitars could hardly be called "Originals"; a new top or new neck could be seen as standard repair procedures. Most of these restorations have been done long time ago, therefore not being so noticeable to eye.

In the beginning I made similar copies of Selmer's like many French makers are still doing today. I was happy to sell them for a very good price, because I had built up a good reputation as a guitarmaker already. (Raphael Fay's is still playing one of these guitars). But I also had to deal with criticism. People thought of it as really beautiful guitars, I used only the very best materials, but they still were missing some of that authentic sound, that was so custom to the Selmer's, Django played.

So many years have been past since then (almost 20 years). Now I am proud to be able to bring the sound of Django's guitar alive again. My new production method not only uses the original shapes and material of the old Selmer but uses also the exact same traditional building method of the Selmer Workshop, which now makes it possible to reproduce that original, authentic sound.

The quality of this authentic sound will rarely be heard in new guitars of this kind. Some guitarplayer's say it comes the closest to the original sound of the Selmer. Evil tongue's say, it sounds even better then most of the old Selmer's available today.
